Abstract
The Library Plan for the 2022/2023 reporting year included a goal to "target 100 selected organisations to enhance representative collecting" across potentially under-represented communities via Legal Deposit. This was set as an objective in support of Strategic Priority 1.4 "we will work to address the silences in the collections to ensure a richer and more representative variety of voices, views and experiences of 21st century Scotland are collected and curated". A list of 100 organisations was drawn up by curators in General Collections. The Acquisitions Team investigated the deposit status of these organisations and made contact to set up or resume deposit where necessary and possible. This report evaluates the success of the project, to inform decision making regarding whether to repeat the project and, if so, whether the approach taken should be adjusted for maximum impact in the future. The report also discusses to what extent these findings may apply to Legal Deposit collecting activities more generally.
