Abstract
This project evaluates the National Library of Scotland's collection of periodicals, magazines and serials produced in Scotland between 1800 and 1950. The Library's collection covers all fields and subjects, such as arts and humanities, sciences, professions, trades, labour, agriculture, industry, entertainment, sport, and religion. It is an expansive and rich collection with connections to a variety of the Library's specialised areas of interest, including the Gaelic language, modern Scottish literature, and Scottish politics. Ultimately, this project lays the groundwork for future decisions regarding the digitisation of the Library's collection of periodicals, magazines and serials. It was produced as part of a collaborative PhD co-supervised by the University of Strathclyde and the National Library of Scotland.
